One of the recurring prayers we recite on Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur is found in the silent Amido "..." Four different sections are included in this Tefilla
- that Hashem place the fear of God in the world's creatures
- that Hashem bequeath respect on the Nation of Israel, that He provide happiness to the Land of Israel and joy to the city of Jerusalem, and that he restore the everlasting legacy of King David
- that the righteous and the saintly will rejoice and evil will disappear
- that Hashem will rule forever over Zion and Jerusalem
Fear is a paralyzing force and it is the first, the primal stage in the establishment of Hashem's dominance over the world.
Fear can also be a disabling force, such as in the case of terrorist organizations whose goal is to spread violence and death throughout the world. - causing notions to shy away from confronting this evil, ignore it, pacify it, concede to it or, at worst, lend it support.
Our prayer is that Hashem provide us the determination to eradicate the evil which threatens the world, thus allowing the realization of the last 3 stages of our Tefilla:
- The provision of honor and respect to Am Yisrael and, through the process of Geula, happiness to our Land, joy to Jerusalem and the reestablishment of David's legacy
- the righteous will regain their deserved place of honor and the forces of evil will be disbanded
- Hashem's rule will be overtly conspicuous and we will bask in His divine presence every moment of every day, on Mount Zion and in Yerushalayim (may it be rebuilt quickly in our lifetime),
